Chemical Reaction

Monday, February 4, 2008

Ok so this isn't actually my absolute favorite chemical reaction, but it was the easiest one I could find on the internet. Baking soda and VinegarSodium bicarbonate + acetic acid gives sodium acetate, water, and carbon dioxide. NaHCO3 + HOOCCH3 ------> NaOOCCH3 + H2O + CO2 ) In this reaction, baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), a solid powder, with vinegar are being mixed. I like this chemical reaction because it is very interesting to look at and amazing how you begin and end with two very different things.

Cool Chelsey, i think i saw that one somewhere on the net too...

this is the reaction that kids use when making those paper volcanoes, right? my brother got this plastic kit one when we were little and it was really fun to just watch it ooze out.

Aww, man! You beat me to it, I said the exact same thing. I'll link to you on my site, since you came up with it first, then.
